Conquer the 10K

Ideal for those looking to build on their distance and fitness.

Looking for a new challenge? Ever considered running a 10k? Maybe you’ve completed a Couch to 5k Course and now you are wondering how to progress and go further and take your running to the next level.

This programme is for you if you’re new to running and would like to train for a 10km (6 mile) run or event. To benefit from this programme, you should be able to run / walk 5km (3 miles) in less than 35 minutes, and you may have already completed the Couch to 5K programme.

Throughout the course we will progressively increase the distance with 3 runs a week, so that you can confidently complete a distance of 10k in just 8 weeks!

 

The course includes longer time spent on interval sessions than the Improvers (anything from 15-20 minutes) with some running games and running drills to help improve technique, and therefore help prevent injury. Two homework runs a week are also set for the duration of the course. At the end of the course we choose a local 10k from the UK racing calendar to run together (this is optional and runners are required to enter and pay themselves).


Our programme offers the following:

  • Help improving technique.

  • Advice on Planning & adapting training around your lifestyle.

  • Learn to fuel your body and keep hydrated.

  • A fully qualified coach available to keep you focused and motivated, especially on those days when you don't fancy stepping out of the front door!

  • One coached run every week for 8 weeks.

  • Weekly training plan to keep you on track with two other runs to complete on your own

All our training plans have three key elements, which alter as you progress. These are ‘FIT’; which stands for:

  • F – Frequency (how often)

  • I – Intensity or pace (how hard) 

  • T – Time (how long)
